Wild cat is the common name of several species of closely related small. Old world wildcars and occasionally of such North American cats as the lynx, bobcat and feral domestic cats. The true wild cat, Felis silvestris, is found from Scotland through Europe, except Scandinavia, and in parts of Asia and Africa. It has the general form of a house cat but has a longer, squarer head, longer legs, and a full, short tail with a rounded tip. The male is 58 cm (23 in) long, on the average, plus a 31 cm (12 in) tail. It may stand 38 cm (15 in) high at the shoulder and weigh about 6 kg (13.2 lb). a lone night hunter, the wildcat kills large birds and small mammals and may take poultry and lambs from farms. After a gestation period of about 68 days, the wildcat gives birth to 3 to 6 kittens. The wildcat interbreeds with its cousin, the domestic house cat.
The wild cat a heavily built, fierce cat of lovest regions, somewhat resembles a domestic cat tabby but cannot be tamed.
